Mind's Eye Photography wants you to look your best for your session.  Here are a few suggestions you may want to keep in mind.

What to Wear:
  • Clothing should be kept simple.  After all, the focus should be on you, not your clothes.
  • Light colors such as khaki, light pastels and cream colors are recommended with solid colors photographing the best.
  • Avoid wearing yellow or green as they can adversely affect skin color.  Textures such as knits and denim make for a pleasing photograph.

Hair:

  • When deciding on a hairstyle, keep hair accessories to a minimum.
  • Remember, capturing your child's personality means making them as comfortable as possible, try to make their hairstyles natural.
  • Plan haircuts at least one week prior to the photographs, perms/colouring should be given two weeks to relax.

 Glasses:

  • Glasses can be a challenge to photograph because of glare and reflection.
  • Consider NOT wearing glasses or having the lenses removed by your optician for the session.
  • This is not required, but be aware than some lenses reflect light in a distracting manner.

Your Ideas:

  • Please get involved in the creation of your portraits, I love the interaction.
  • By including props that mean something to you, in turn, the portraits will mean so much more to you.
  • Hobbies, sports, pets, whatever you feel will enhance your portrait, is welcome (snakes are out, sorry) lol.
  • Automobiles, boats, motorcycles and skidoos are great fun too.

Your session:

  • I want to make your session a memorable experience, and as relaxed as possible.  First thing's first, try not to "prep" the child, they may become reluctant, scared and force smiles.  In order to capture your child's personality, I don't insist on 'cheesy' smiles, rather I like to capture natural expressions and smiles by talking to them.
  • It may take a little time for your child to warm up to having their photo taken, so don't get discouraged if your child seems unwilling to get his or her picture taken, try not to get uptight, as it makes the child uptight as well.
  • Please make sure older children are well rested and fed before the session.
  • For younger children and infants, I am open to taking breaks as needed; for snacks or feedings (I work better on a full stomach).
  • A few details that matter are fingernails being clean and faces wiped, I know it sounds obvious, but you would be surprised!

If you need to reschedule your appointment, a 24 hour notice is preferred and appreciated.

Ordering session options:

  • Your proofs will be ready to view approximately 7 days after your session.  You may schedule your ordering session at your portrait session.  You will be shown approximately 20-30 images at this time.  We encourage orders be made at this session.

  • Keeping in mind that you may have out of town family present, I also have viewing available the day of your portrait session on my laptop on location.  These images will be in their non-edited format, and there is limited space around the laptop. Please let me know prior to our session whether this option is best for you, so I can book my time accordingly.  Try to allot enough time as making hasty decisions can produce less then satisfactory results.

  • It is always helpful to have an idea of what size of portraits will suit your needs, to make the decision easier once you see the results.

  • Online proof viewing Is AVAILABLE!

 Referrals:

  • Do you love your portraits?  Please tell a friend!  The biggest compliment you could give Mind's Eye Photography is your referrals!
  • You will receive a complimentary 8 x 10 portrait for each paid session as a thank-you gift, good for a past or future session with Mind's Eye Photography.
  • Need to give your friends or family members a reason to book a session?  They will receive a complimentary 5 x 7 portrait from their session!

Whatever stage of life you find yourself in, Mind's Eye Photography is there to capture it!
